Luke 20:27-39 |At first glance, it is easy to miss. From our perspective, 2000 years later, it looks like Jesus actually stops to answer a rather sophomoric question designed to back Him into a corner. In fact, Jesus stops to implore and persuade a group of Jews that aren’t convinced of a coming afterlife, let alone a coming Messiah.

Luke 20:1-26 | When Jesus walks into Jerusalem for the Passover celebration, Jesus starts acting like He owns the place. Being, in fact, the Messiah, He does – but the people that run Judaism and the Temple aren’t buying into it. It is unmistakable that Jesus is pushing the buttons of the Jewish leadership and is trying to force their hand. Jesus, it seems, is trying to get himself executed!
